Witnessing?

We are all busy doing life in our own corner of the world. People are watching what we do and listening to what we say because we say we are Christians.

Have you asked yourself what they see and hear?
How do you witness where you are?
Is there some activity that you do each week to witness?
Is there some way you share Christ's love with those around you?

Share what you do to reach out and share God with those around you.

Well...speaking of witnessing and missions; I'll be leaving for Denmark in a few weeks as a student missionary. I will be there as an assistant dean at a boarding school and probably will be teaching a few classes. I think it will be a great experience and I love helping people so I'll have a good time.

Yeah, I've been to Puerto Rico, Belize, and El Salvador on mission trips and they were great experiences. Adapting to the environment was the hardest thing! I love the comforts of America! AMEN! The people were amazing though. They were so friendly and thoughtful and just loved us the instant we met them. They really showed me Christ. I would go again in a heartbeat!

What I love about witnessing is that we don't need to go to a foreign country -- we can witness to those in our own town, right where God planted us. In the past 2 days, my friend and I witnessed to people from Korea, Norway, Germany, Canada, The Caribbean, and of course, several from America. We live in the San Francisco Bay Area where alot of foreigners visit.

To start a spiritual conversation, we will use well-written tracts as 'ice-breakers' -- something to start the conversation. We will swing from the natural to the spiritual by asking about their spiritual background, what they think happens after they die, if they think they will go to heaven when they die, etc. Sometimes we will stand on the sidewalk of a busy street and make a comment or ask a question about something written or a picture on their t-shirt.

You can find many training tools (books, videos, CDs) on Living Waters as well as tracts (ice breakers). You can find witnessing encouragement and edification at Way of the Master Radio and on my friend's blog, Witnessing Encouragement.

I LOVE sharing my faith with others. I am very shy and have lived most of my adult life in remote mountain cabins, but I love God now and spend as much time as I can making friends so I can share my faith. I talk to everyone I see and try to create opportunities to come close to others. On Canadian Thanksgiving Day (last week) I made 40 pumpkin pies and left one for each of my neighbours on their doorstep to surprize them. I attached a big bright orange balloon with Happy Thanksgiving Day written on it and a card which I signed, Love, your neighbour. I have done this with homemade jam and many times with homemade bread. Now more and more everyday my neighbours are coming to me! And I have more and more opportunities to share Jesus!

I have listened to LifeTalk Radio for almost 3 years now on a satelite dish. Listening to LifeTalk has been such a HUGE blessing to me, but more and more I was sad that I am the only one in my community that can hear it. Last winter I starting praying that God would show me how to bring LifeTalk to the Kootenays. I couldn't get LifeTalk here (because of CRTC rules against rebroadcasting USA radio in Canada) but through an obscure excemption clause was able to get VOAR. Now after 8 months of prayer and work the inspector is arriving TODAY and if everything passes for the first time ever here in our area we will have Christian Radio on the air! Now through VOAR, 24 hours a day, even when I am sleeping I will be witnessing for my faith in my very own community over the airwaves! This is a happy day for me for which I PRAISE GOD! I involved my community as much as possible in this project which created MANY witnessing opportunities as well.

I certainly have asked myself what people see in me.
I witness by making friends. Being open to talk with people I don't know. Whether it is at work, or in the grocery store...
Because no one wants to hear what any of us have to say until they know that we care.
I share his love by making myself available to others. I try to always be willing to listen and to talk with
people about the issues that might be going on in there life. People can tell if you care or if you do not. And then I wait
for opportunities to present themselves for me to tell them about Jesus.

To be continued....
